Joseph is the inspiration behind The Tate Foundation and he reminds us daily of Gods Love and Grace.
Joseph Tate
Joseph was born in San Diego, California to the parents of Hosea L Tate Jr and Shelise L Tate. Born with an intellectual disability, Joseph has overcome hearing loss, the need for speaking devices and the need for medications. Moving to Mississippi in October of 2011, he entered the Desoto County school system where he was able to graduate from Olive Branch High School in 2016 despite his disability.
Joining Special Olympics MS in 2012 Joseph has been able to shine. He has traveled the states of TN, GA & MS excelling in basketball, baseball, flag football and his personal favorite Track & Field. He has participated in the Olive Branch Torch Run with the Olive Branch Police Department, the first United Egg Bowl for team Ole Miss where they team won as well as represented the state of Mississippi in Track and Field at the USA Games in 2022.
Joseph loves his parent, siblings, church members and teammates. He is an active member of Christ The Rock Baptist Church. His spirit and smile is an inspiration to us all and it is through him that we have learned that even in disability there is still ability.
